Dear Parents,
I hope this update finds you and your loved ones healthy and without too many worries. I know that this situation we are facing is stressful for many people. In light of the extra time off, I would like to suggest some things to do during the extra 2 weeks away from school.
Reading
Please continue to read daily, read to your child and/or have them read to you. I have updated their Razkids levels and I have included the login in information in the agendas today. If your child is not at school today, I can send you the info via Classdojo if you wish to have it. Also, please make sure you study the word wall words that were sent home this week.
Writing
Please write 3-5 sentences each day during the 10 school days missed. Remind them to start with upper case letters, leave spaces between words and end with punctuation.
Math
We have been working on 2D shapes and our next focus is 3D solids. They should be able to identify and name attributes of the common ones (i.e. square, rectangle, circle, triangle, hexagon, cube, cylinder, sphere, rectangular prism). You can also spend time on addition and subtraction to and from 20 using manipulatives and mental math strategies. You can also work on Zorbit Math. I have included the login in information in the agendas today. If your child is not at school today, I can send you the info via Classdojo if you wish to have it.
Field Trip
If all goes well, we should be able to choose another day for our field trip. More info regarding this will come out when we get back in April.
All other subject areas can be caught up when we return. Please make sure to take care of yourselves, I will be thinking of you all!

Dear Parents,
Please see below for a few updates.
Field Trip
We will have our Field Trip on March 25th. Please fill out and return the permission forms if you haven't already. Thanks to those of you who have volunteered. We can always use extra support.
Homework and Reading
Please continue to complete the homework with your child. I encourage you to encourage your child to use different sentences types, some statements and some questions. Also, please remember to read the levelled reader. They can read it several times throughout the week to work on fluency. It's also a good idea to make sure you talk about the book with your child. You can ask them about things such as the characters and the setting, the main events, the connections they made, what they think might happen...
Math
We have completed our unit on addition and subtraction. Please practice these skills at home with your child, especially subtraction. For some of the students, this area was a little more challenging, extra work in this area will be beneficial. We are now moving on to 2D and 3D shapes and solids.
Interviews
Thanks to all of you for the tremendous support in your child's learning. It was nice to meet with many of you and have phone interviews with you this past month. Please remember I am always available should you want to discuss your child's progress.
March Break
I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a great March Break. I hope you all find the time to unwind a little and have fun spending time with your family and friends!
