April 3, 2020

Hello Parents,

Today is the final day of our 2 week transition period. I am glad to have made contact with each family and I am happy everyone is healthy and coping well with our new reality. Please never hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns. I am more than happy to support you in any way possible.

Moving into Phase 2 of Distance Learning, our setup will be slightly different. Each Monday morning I will post in this Blog a slideck with the work for the week. The work is based on the Ministry guidelines of 5 hours a week with a focus on Literacy (English and French) and Math. The slideck is broken down into work for each day. This can be modified based on your families' needs. The goal however is that all the work be completed by the following Monday. In our new format, we will have Zoom meetings twice a week on Mondays and Fridays (unless it's a holiday) at 10:00. I will continue to send the links to the Zoom meetings via the Classdojo App. If you wish to supplement your child's work, I have the Learning Goals for the month posted in the Curriculum tab in this Blog. You are welcome to check out the goals and use resources you like to support your child's learning. I will also add some links in the Homework tab of this Blog for sites that have been recommend. I don't want to put to many as in my experience, it can be overwhelming.  Also, I would like to suggest once again coming up with a family schedule. Children work much better when there is a routine in place that covers different parts of the day including school work, fresh air, physical activity, crafts, free time etc.

Finally, thank you all for your support with this. It is a challenging time but I really appreciate your commitment to our class community.  The work for the upcoming week was posted here on this Blog on April 2nd. You will notice at the top of each day there is a theme for the day. We are having a virtual Spirit Week. Monday is School Colours Day. Try to wear green and/or white to our meeting Monday. Have a great weekend and see you all Monday at 10:00.

Sending Love,
Mrs. Akl
