Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome! My name is Lisa Akl and I am thrilled to be your child’s teacher. I hope you had a great summer and that your children are excited and eager to be back at school! I have more than 17 years experience with the OCSB as well as 3 additional years teaching abroad. In addition to teaching I love reading, running, spending time with my family and watching hockey! I look forward to getting to know you and your child this year. I am certain we will build a great partnership and have a fantastic year together. Communication is key to this relationship; therefore, I will have several platforms for us to keep each other informed.
Communication
Classroom Blog: The Classroom Blog is a place where you can get monthly updates as well as find out about our monthly Learning Goals to support your child’s learning at home. http://aklocsb.blogspot.ca/
Twitter: The Twitter account is a place where you can get a quick snapshot at some of the learning taking place in our class. @LisaAkl1
Class Dojo: Class Dojo is an app you can get on your smartphone. You will receive short messages and reminders. Please see the sheet in your child's ziplock for information on how to set this up.
Agenda: The Agenda will go home each night. You are asked to sign it and return it the following day in the Ziplock bag provided. If you have a message for me, you can write it in there. Please keep the Agenda open to today's page. It makes it easier check in the busy mornings.
Phone Calls and Interviews: Feel free to let me know if you would like a phone interview or a face to face interview at any time. I am always glad to discuss your child’s progress.
Homework
Your child will have a Homework Folder that will go home each night in the Ziplock along with the Agenda. Regular homework routines will begin later in the month. More information on this will come. In the meantime, please make sure you do nightly reading with your child.
