Dear Parents,
Welcome Back and Happy New Year! I hope you all enjoyed the time you spent with your families and friends. Please see below for a few updates.
Homework
Homework begins again this week. We have five new Word Wall Words and a new reader to read. I am also asking that students now write 3 sentences instead of 1. I think the extra practice is important for them at this point. Please continue to try to vary the sentences types so the children can get used to using different punctuation. As for the readers, they can be read multiple times throughout the week. This re-reading helps to build fluency. You do not to write in the log each time you read it. Also, your child should be reading a level 5/6 by the end of January. That is the provincial standard. If they are not there yet, do what you can at home to get some extra practice with the readers and learning the word wall words. We will continue to support them here at school as well.
Library
Library visits will resume this week. Please make sure to return any library books, most have been turned in already but if you notice you still have one, please send it back.
Winter Clothing
Please make sure all items are labeled and that your child has an extra pair of socks in their bag.
New Classmate
I am happy to inform you that we have a new addition to our class. The children have been very welcoming to our new friend. You should be proud of them!
Thanks to you all for your continued support!
