Hi Parents!

I hope you all doing well and you had a good week.  Please see below for a few updates.

Homework
Next week, students will have their second week of homework. You will get their homework book on Monday and it will be due back by Friday or on the following Monday if you would like to complete it on the weekend. I will also include in their red folder a list of word family words we have been working on and a few sentences for them to read to you at home. These are words we have been working on in class so it is my hope that with your support they will be able to read the entire page within a week or 2 of extra practice at home.  I will be re-evaluating them to see how they have progressed. You can keep the sheet at home. There is also 2 lines at the bottom where I asked them to attempt to write 2 sentences. Don't worry if your child hasn't written anything there. They are all at different places and they don't need to be able to do that independently yet. Some can though, so this allows me to see where they all are and how I can target specific skills for each student.

Math
In Math we have done sorting and patterning, we are now shifting gears to numbers. Please support your child with numbers to 20. The children really enjoy our Math centers and playing Math games.

Science
We continue to work on characteristics of seasons and changes in weather. We talked this week about how the seasons change due to the tilt of the planet. I encourage you to look for books or videos on Youtube about this. They were interested in learning about this. We also do a daily weather report. Please talk to your child about the temperature daily. As you are preparing to get dressed, ask tell them what the temperature is and how it is changing and how what we wear and do is a result in those changes.
